Silk Painting:
Color, Design & Reverse Applique

 Susan Moyer

Workshop description: The focus of this workshop is to create beautiful patterns and textures on silk that can be incorporate into a reverse appliqué design. Flowing iron set paints, water-soluble resists and wax will be used to create washes, shades and blends, texture, images and design. Students will be encouraged to expand their design and color mixing skills throughout the workshop. Students will learn a simple reverse appliqué technique and progress toward developing a more original design that incorporates the unique silk patterns they will create during class. The workshop project can be used to make a very unique and beautiful pillow cover, fashion fabric or, of course, original hand painted and reverse appliqué fabrics that can be incorporated into art quilts.
