Immersion Dyeing for One Ounce (30 gm) of Doll Hair:

1. Wet out the fiber in one gallon of warm (120oF/49oC) water bath containing ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) of Synthrapol.

2. For the dyepot, use a stainless steel or unchipped enamel pan. Add 2 ½ cups (625ml) of room temperature 75oF to 95oF (24o to 35oC) water.

3. Measure ½ teaspoon (1.25 gm) of the dye powder and dissolve the dye with a small quantity of boiling water. Add more water to equal one cup (250 ml). Mix well and add to your dyebath.

4. Squeeze out the excess water from your doll hair and add to the dye bath.

5. Heat slowly to a boil (212oF/100oC) while gently stirring, every now and then. If you are dyeing silk, raise the temperature no higher than 185oF/85oC, or you may lose the luster of the silk.

6. Keep the dyebath at a slow simmer and dye the doll hair for 30 minutes, gently stirring every 5 or 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let the dyebath cool to room temperature.

7. Remove the doll hair and rinse in warm (120oF/40oC) water, squeezing out excess water and letting the doll hair air dry.
