Fluorescent Dyeing: Small Batch Method
using PROfab Fluorescent Color Concentrates

Please read directions carefully starting.

Single garments or occasional dyeing with the PRO Neon fluorescent colors can be easily carried out at room temperature in a plastic container. Depending on technique, you have the option of obtaining blotchy patterns, streaky patterns or a smooth uniform color. This recipe will dye 15 - 20 large T-shirts. Always do test samples before working on a large project. For additional information, visit our website at www.prochemical.com.

Supplies
PROfab Fluorescent Color Concentrates
Lo Crock Binder
PRO Span B
Synthrapol
PRO Dye Activator or Soda Ash

Procedure
1. Machine wash fabric
on HOT cycle, minimum temperature of 140oF (60oC), or by hand in a pot on the stove, with ½ tsp. (2 gm) PRO Dye Activator or Soda Ash and ½ tsp (2.5 ml) Synthrapol per pound of fabric (454 gm, or 3 to 4 yards muslin weight fabric).

2. Make color bath by mixing 1 ½ cups (375 ml) of PRO Lo Crock Binder with 3½ quarts (3500 ml) of room temperature 75o to 95oF (24o to 35oC) water. Stir well.

3. Add 16 to 24 ounces (2 to 3 cups) or (456 to 684 ml) of PROfab Fluorescent Color Concentrate to the color bath and stir well.

4. Add ½ cup (125 ml) PROspan B to the color bath and stir well.

5. Wear rubber gloves, when you apply the color. Immerse washed garment into the color bath and stir thoroughly until saturated.

6. Remove garment from solution and wring it out well. Allow excess color bath to flow back into its container.

Pattern Techniques:

To get darker streaks of Neon color, wring out only once and hang to dry.

For uniform, even color, refold and wring several times until no more liquid is seen in the creases of the garment.

For a blotchy look, crumple garment and squeeze out excess solution instead of wringing.

Store left-over Neon color solution can be stored in a closed container for future use. Shelf life of color bath is approximately two months.

7. Open garment and hang to dry.

8. When dry, run in clothes dryer for 45 minutes at highest setting. This permanently fixes the color on the fabric. Do not wash for 5 to 7 days after heat setting.

NOTE: This amount of Neon color solution dyes between 15 and 20 size large men's T-shirts.
