Direct Application on Nylon and Acetate Rayon
using PROsperse Disperse Dyes

Please read directions carefully before starting.

Use PROsperse Disperse dyes to paint, stencil or screen print on nylon and acetate rayon. Always do a test sample before working on a large project. For additional information visit our web site at www.prochemical.com.

PRO Dye Activator or Soda Ash

Procedure
1. Scour the fabric by machine washing in HOT 140oF (60oC) water, or by hand in a pot on the stove with ½ tsp (2 gm) PRO Dye Activator or Soda Ash and ½ tsp (2.5 ml) Synthrapol per pound of fabric (454 gm, or 3 to 4 yards of muslin weight fabric). Rinse thoroughly. This step does not add the dye fixative to the fabric; it prepares your fabric for dyeing by removing any dirt, oil or sizing.

2. Dissolve the dye. Measure the desired amount of dye powder, from the chart above. Dissolve dye into ¾ cup (188 ml) 80oF to 90oF (27o to 32oC) water.

3. Make the dye paint. Add Synthrapol, PRO Chem Flakes and Metaphos. Stir until dissolved. While rapidly stirring, sprinkle up to 3 teaspoons (7.8 gm) PRO Thick F into the dye paint. Add water to make 1 cup (250 ml). Stir intermittently, until a smooth paste is obtained, approximately 1 hour. Dye paint should be kept in closed container.

4. Paint, print, or silk screen onto the fabric.

5. Air dry after printing or painting.

6. Steam for 30 minutes at 212oF (100oC).

7. Rinse well in warm 105oF to 110oF (41o to 43oC) water and dry.
